Attending professional umpire school in 2015.

Hi Everyone. Welcome to my blog about attending professional umpire school in 2015. Youth umpiring has been my hobby for about 12 years now. Last year, fellow umpire Bill Balog and myself made the decision to attend pro school in 2015. Bill and I will be attending “The Umpire School” (TUS) in Vero Beach, Florida for their 4 week professional training course. For most umpires, pro school is the “Holy Grail” of umpire training. While we will not be looking, nor offered, jobs in professional baseball, we hope to learn a lot, become better umpires, and bring some teaching methodology back to our local associations.

I’ve set up this blog to chronicle our journey into the world of professional training.  School starts on January 7th, and ends on February 4th. I will blog occasionally before we leave and plan on writing daily during school to keep everyone back home abreast of our trip. Tune in everyday for updates and stories from beautiful Florida. The training is six days a week, and we will be staying on site at the Dodgers old spring training camp. I’ll also try to post pictures along the way.

It’s going to be a long and sometime grueling adventure, but thanks to a loving wife, I’m able to cross off one more thing on my bucket list.
